Lying between the Conflent valley and Mont Canigou, the terraced facades of Eus face into the hot Catalan sun, a major factor also in its luxuriant plant life. This former stronghold repelled French invaders in the 16th century and the Spanish army in the 18th century. Today, in the place of the former citadel you can see the impressive church of Saint-Vincent standing proudly over the picturesque steep, cobbled streets.
